Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the PM Kisan 23rd Installment on June 20, 2026. This transferred Rs 18,880 crore directly into the bank accounts of over 9.44 crore eligible farmers. If you are registered under the scheme, you should check your account to verify if your Rs 2,000 has arrived. But before you get too comfortable, remember that hundreds of thousands of farmers missed this payment because of incomplete paperwork. You don't want to be one of them. You should verify your details immediately to avoid delays.
This scheme is quite old now. Every four months, the government sends Rs 2,000 to small and marginal farmers across India, which is Rs 6,000 a year. It's a direct bank transfer. That helps bypass middlemen, if you ask me. If you want to get how these payments work, read our direct benefit transfer explainers for a full breakdown.
Thing is, the system is strict. If your Aadhaar isn't linked, or if you haven't completed your biometric verification, the transaction fails. So let's make sure everything is correct.
Step-by-step PM Kisan status check online
Checking your status online is pretty simple. But the official portal is confusing if it's your first time (which makes sense, actually, given government design). You don't need to visit a government office to check your payment. Just use your phone.
Follow these steps to check your status:
- Open your browser and visit the site at pmkisan.gov.in. You'll see a yellow and green header with the national emblem. I think it looks a bit outdated. Scroll down until you find the 'Farmers Corner' section.
- Look for a box that says "Know Your Status" and click it. A new page opens. It has a form where you enter your registration number.
- If you don't know your registration number, look at the top right of the form. Click the link for 'Know Your Registration Number'. You'll need to enter your mobile or Aadhaar number. Key in your Aadhaar number and enter the captcha code. Click 'Get Mobile OTP'. You'll get a code on your phone. Enter this code to see your registration number. Write it down because you'll need it every single time.
- Go back to the main "Know Your Status" page. Type in your registration number and the captcha code. Click "Get Data".
- The screen shows your personal info. You'll see your name and registration date, plus your address. Below this, you'll see your eligibility status. Look at the payment history grid. If the 23rd installment is there, check the status. If it says "FTOSigned" or "Payment Sent", the government has sent the money to your bank.
Here's the deal: if you see a blank space or a red cross, you need to check your settings. In my experience, most payment issues happen because of details mismatching. Specifically, it is a mismatch between your bank account and Aadhaar database.
Verify your payment registration details
When you look at the beneficiary status page, you must check three parameters. These are listed under the "Eligibility Status" tab. If even one has a red mark, the government won't release your money.
First, check if "Land Seeding" says "Yes". If it's "No", your local revenue department hasn't verified your land records. So you'll need to submit physical copies of your land documents to the local block agricultural office or patwari to get this updated.
Second, check if Aadhaar Seeding Status says "Yes". Honestly, this is where many farmers get stuck. It shows if your bank account is linked to your Aadhaar card so you can get the money.
Check your Aadhaar seeding status
In India, government subsidies go through Aadhaar-based payments. The money goes to the bank account last seeded with your Aadhaar number. Just linking your Aadhaar card for login isn't enough. The bank has to link it specifically for Direct Benefit Transfer.
You can check this seeding status by visiting your bank branch or by logging into the UIDAI website. If you have multiple accounts, make sure the active one is the seeded one. If it isn't, go to your bank with your Aadhaar card and fill out the seeding consent form. I'm not sure exactly why, but the bank usually takes two to three working days to update this in the National Payments Corporation of India database.
Solve the Aadhaar seeding problem with your bank
If your status check shows that your bank account isn't seeded, the money won't be credited to you. Honestly, this is a common hurdle for many rural bank account holders, particularly with regional rural banks or cooperative banks. You'll need to submit a seeding request to your branch manager.
- Find your bank passbook and Aadhaar card. Then make a photocopy of both.
- Go to your bank branch where you hold the account. Ask the clerk for the Aadhaar seeding consent form. This is sometimes called the DBT activation form.
- Fill out the form with your account and Aadhaar numbers. Don't forget to sign it. Make sure your signature matches the bank records.
- Hand in the form along with the photocopies. Ask the bank operator to link it specifically for DBT.
- Ask for a printed receipt or confirmation. It takes around three to five working days for the bank to update the NPCI server.
Look, you don't need to panic if it's slow. You can track the status online on the UIDAI website under the bank seeding status section once the bank processes your papers.
How to complete your PM Kisan eKYC in 2026
Completing your eKYC is mandatory. If you don't do it, the government will stop your installments. The deadline is already past for this round, but the portal still accepts updates for future cycles.
Basically, eKYC is just a way for the government to verify that you're still alive. You can do this using different methods depending on your setup.
Complete eKYC using the OTP method
If your mobile number is linked to your Aadhaar card, you can finish this in less than five minutes. It's the fastest way to get your account updated. Make sure your phone is close to get the confirmation code.
- Go to the official PM Kisan portal at pmkisan.gov.in. Scroll down to the "Farmers Corner" section.
- Click the button labeled "eKYC". It's usually the first box in the section.
- The screen will ask for your Aadhaar number. Enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number carefully and click "Search".
- Then, type the mobile number linked with your Aadhaar. Click "Get OTP".
- You'll get an SMS code from UIDAI. Enter it on the screen and click "Submit OTP".
- If the details match, the screen will say "eKYC is successfully submitted". You don't need to do anything else.
But if you get an error saying "Aadhaar OTP mismatch" or if you don't get the SMS, your mobile isn't linked to Aadhaar. In this case, the online method won't work. You must use the biometric or face scan method instead.
Complete eKYC at a Common Service Centre
If your mobile number isn't linked, or if you find the online portal too hard to use, going offline is your best bet.
You'll have to visit a local Common Service Centre. These are in almost every village and town in India.
- Find your nearest Common Service Centre. The government's CSC locator portal has a list of authorized centers. If you're not sure where to go, check our government app guides to find public service portals near you.
- Take your physical Aadhaar card and registered mobile number with you.
- Tell the operator there that you want to complete your PM Kisan verification. They will log in using their credentials.
- You'll have to put your thumb or finger on the biometric scanner. It verifies your identity using your fingerprint.
- Once the scan is successful, the operator submits the form. You'll need to pay a small fee of Rs 15 to Rs 20. Don't pay more than the approved rate.
Complete eKYC using face authentication on the app
If biometric machines don't read your fingerprints and you don't get the OTP, try face authentication. The government put this in the official PM-Kisan app for senior citizens. Honestly, it's one of the best features they've added.
- Open the Google Play Store. Download two apps: the official PM-Kisan mobile app and the Aadhaar FaceRD app. You need both for this to work.
- Open the PM-Kisan app. Log in with your registration number. If you don't know it, look it up on the portal like we explained.
- Once you're in, tap the "eKYC" option on the screen.
- Select face authentication. The app will open your front camera.
- Hold the phone steady in front of your face. Make sure you have good lighting. Blink when the app tells you to. That helps the system verify that you're real, not a photo.
- The app scans your face and matches it with Aadhaar database to finish verification. You'll see a green checkmark.
It's an incredibly helpful feature if you manage accounts for elderly relatives who can't travel.
Watch out for fake PM Kisan messages and apps
Since millions of farmers get this money, scammers try to steal bank details. They send fake texts and share bad links on WhatsApp.
A typical message might say your payment is blocked. It'll tell you to click a link to unblock it right away. If you click, it takes you to a fake website that looks like the real portal. They might ask for your bank details or UPI PIN.
The official PM Kisan portal is pmkisan.gov.in. The government will never ask you for your bank password, card details, PINs, or OTPs via SMS or phone calls. If a site asks for these, it's a scam.

Avoid sharing OTPs and downloading suspicious files
Many scammers send APK files via WhatsApp. They claim these are official apps to check your status. Once you install them, they run in the background to read your bank OTPs.
To protect yourself:
- Don't download apps from third-party sites or shared links. Only use the Google Play Store to install the official "PM-Kisan Mobile App".
- Never share your Aadhaar OTP with callers claiming to be government officers. Government departments don't call users to verify OTPs.
- Check the website address carefully. Scammers often use similar-looking links, like pmkisan-status.in or pmkisan-ekyc.co. The official site ends with gov.in.
If you fell victim to one of these scams and lost money, act fast. Report it immediately to the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal at cybercrime.gov.in. You can also call the helpline at 1930 to block the transaction before scammers move the money.
