Looking at historical pricing for limited edition consoles, I estimate the console will launch in India at around Rs 59,990. The standard Digital Edition currently retails for Rs 44,990. But this bundle includes a brand new game and the custom design premium. If you want to add the disc drive and the matching cover later, expect to pay another Rs 12,000 minimum.
When pre-orders open, you'll need to act fast.
Most retailers like Amazon and Flipkart will require full payment upfront. If you're planning to use EMI, keep your credit card ready and saved in your account. You can also use UPI for a faster checkout on sites like ShopatSC. Just make sure your daily UPI limit is set high enough to clear a Rs 60,000 transaction. I've seen too many people lose their cart because their bank blocked a sudden high-value UPI payment. It's a mess.
How to secure your pre-order in India
Securing one of these consoles is going to be a bloodbath. Scalpers are already gearing up to use bots. And genuine gamers are left fighting for the scraps. I have a few strategies that have worked for me in the past.
First, ignore the big e-commerce sites for the first ten minutes. Amazon and Flipkart crash. Or they show the item out of stock immediately while the bots eat up the inventory. Instead, focus on ShopatSC or GamesTheShop. Your local authorized Sony dealer is also a good option. Sometimes walking into a physical store and putting down a Rs 5,000 advance is the most reliable way to secure a console.
Always check if a local offline store is taking pre-orders. They often have separate stock allocations from the online madness. And scalper bots can't walk into a store in person.
Second, set up stock alerts. There are plenty of Twitter accounts and Discord servers dedicated to tracking PS5 stock in India. Turn on notifications for them around mid-August. You have to be ready to click the link and checkout within 60 seconds of the drop.
Third, beware of fake pre-order sites. Every time a major console launches, a dozen fake websites pop up offering guaranteed stock for a lower price. If you already own a PS5 Pro, you don't need to buy a whole new console. You can just buy these covers separately.

Why this game is a big deal for PlayStation

Will the hardware hold up in 2026?
There's a valid concern about buying a base PS5 right now. Especially with the PS5 Pro dominating the conversation this year. This bundle is based on the Slim redesign of the base PS5, not the Pro hardware. This means you're getting the standard processing power.
Is that a problem? Honestly, no.
The base PS5 is still a tremendously capable machine. Insomniac Games are wizards at optimization. They'll absolutely ensure that Wolverine runs flawlessly at 60fps on this hardware. You might miss out on some of the extreme ray-tracing features exclusive to the Pro. But the core gameplay experience will be identical.
If you're someone who obsessively counts pixels, maybe skip this console and buy the Adamantium covers for a PS5 Pro instead. But for 95% of people playing on a standard 4K TV in their bedroom, this console will deliver exactly what they need. Plus, the smaller footprint of the Slim model fits much better in typical Indian TV cabinets. I think it's a fair trade-off.
The second-hand market and warranty concerns
I need to touch on the second-hand market because it's a huge part of Indian gaming culture. When you buy a limited edition console, its resale value holds up much better than the standard white PS5. If you take care of the Battle Yellow panels and keep the original box in good condition, you could probably sell this console in 2028 for almost what you paid for it.
There's a thriving market for collector's editions on Facebook groups and OLX. Just be very careful when dealing with buyers locally. Always meet in a public place, like a metro station or a busy mall cafe. And insist on immediate UPI transfers before handing over the console. Cash can be risky. Never accept cheques or screenshots of payment.
As for warranty, buying through official Indian retail channels gives you a standard one-year warranty.
Sony India is actually quite good with replacements. If your console dies, they don't usually repair it. They just hand you a refurbished replacement unit. However, I'm not entirely sure if they keep stock of the limited edition yellow panels for replacements. You might get a standard white console back if yours breaks, which would be incredibly frustrating. I'd handle this console with extreme care.
Also, keep your GST invoice safe. You can upload it to DigiLocker for safekeeping. Sony service centers in India are strict about requiring a valid, clear tax invoice for any warranty claims. An email confirmation from Amazon is usually fine. But a physical printed bill is always better to have on hand.
Accessories: controllers, covers, and headsets
The standalone accessories might actually be the smartest buy here. Even if you don't drop Rs 60,000 on the console, you might still want a piece of the action.
The Adamantium DualSense controller is gorgeous. It trades the bright yellow for a sleek metallic dark grey with subtle slash marks across the grips. The standard DualSense costs Rs 5,990 in India. Limited edition controllers usually carry a premium. Expect to see this one listed for Rs 6,490 or maybe even Rs 6,990. The numbers here are a bit fuzzy right now. But they're selling it separately from the console bundle. That's great news for existing PS5 owners.
Then there are the console covers. Sony is releasing covers for both the base PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro. If you manage to grab these, you can essentially convert your boring white console into a limited edition unit for a fraction of the price. The covers usually retail around Rs 4,500 in India. But I'll warn you right now. These will be the hardest items to buy. Scalpers buy up the covers immediately because they're cheap to ship and easy to resell at a massive markup.
I'm honestly surprised they didn't announce a matching Pulse 3D or Pulse Elite headset. A yellow headset with claw marks would've completed the setup nicely. Maybe they're holding that back for a later announcement. For now, you'll have to stick with your standard audio gear.
Is the Wolverine PS5 bundle actually worth buying?
Look, Rs 60,000 is a lot of money. If you already have a PS5, upgrading to this just for the paint job makes zero financial sense. You're better off buying the game separately and grabbing a custom skin from a brand like Dbrand or Capes India for Rs 1,500.
But if you're a massive X-Men fan, this is a solid package. Or if you've been holding off on buying a PS5 until a truly special edition came out. The game itself is expected to be a massive hit. Getting the console and the controller together in a unified design is cool.
I'm slightly annoyed about the lack of a disc drive. In a market like India where game discs are regularly traded and resold on sites like Gameloot or CEX, a digital-only console restricts your options. Buying digital games on the PlayStation Store in India means paying full MRP of Rs 4,999 or more for new titles. You have no option to resell them later.
